Sigur Ros – Ágætis byrjun (1999)

This is not considered Sigur Ros’ best album by critics, but critics are twats (yours truly included). This, as all music by Jonsi & co is very very beautiful and strange. This is personally a favourite album of mine because of a track called “Ný Batterí” which is just one of the most stunning tracks imaginable. The album as a whole is just so good though, its a great indication of how good an album is by how amazing the intro is (“Hospice”, “The Chronic”) and Ageatis Byrjum has a fantastic intro, backwards sounds and ambient noises that are fantastically pleasing to the ear. Granted, it is not the best album, not by a long shot but it is a beautiful one.
